We look forward to welcoming you to Lublin!

The Polish Zebrafish Society is pleased to invite researchers, PhD students, technical staff, and all scientists interested in the use of zebrafish (Danio rerio) as a biological and biomedical model to the 8th Workshop of the Polish Zebrafish Society, which will take place in Lublin, Poland, on 23–25 September 2026.

Venue

The workshop will be held at the Center for Experimental Medicine (Ośrodek Medycyny Doświadczalnej) of the Medical University of Lublin,
Dr K. Jaczewskiego 8d, Lublin, Poland.

Workshop objectives

The primary goal of the workshop is to bring together the Polish zebrafish research community and to provide participants with both theoretical background and hands-on experience essential for effective work with the zebrafish model in basic, translational, and applied research.

The program will combine lectures and practical laboratory sessions, covering key aspects of zebrafish research, including:

zebrafish husbandry and facility management,
microinjection techniques and genetic manipulation (including CRISPR/Cas9),
imaging and microscopy approaches,
behavioral and phenotypic analyses,
applications of zebrafish in toxicology and disease modeling.

Scientific program

Following the established format of previous workshops, the first day will be open to the public and will consist of invited lectures delivered by experienced researchers and guest speakers.
The second and third days will focus on hands-on laboratory sessions, conducted in small groups and supervised by qualified instructors with extensive practical expertise in zebrafish research.

Registration and participation

Information on registration, participation fees, and abstract submission will be published in the coming weeks. As the number of places in laboratory sessions is limited, early registration will be strongly encouraged.

Target audience

The workshop is intended for:

researchers and PhD students working in genetics, developmental biology, toxicology, neuroscience, and disease modeling using zebrafish,
laboratory technicians involved in zebrafish husbandry and experimentation,
scientists planning to introduce zebrafish into their research or teaching activities,
all individuals interested in practical and methodological aspects of zebrafish-based research.
